Carne al Toro Recipe

Method:

  1. Get all the vegetables chopped in very small dice and fry the slice of bread.

  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then sear the meat in a very hot pan with the oil until taking some colour.

  3. Cook the vegetables for 7-8 mins in the same pan the meat was seared (but without the beef).

  4. Add the beef back onto the vegetables. Add the red wine and stir. Leave it to boil for 10 seconds.

  5. Add all the rest of the ingredients, BUT just half of the water.

  6. Mix all the ingredients in the pot and make them to boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmering for about 60-90 mins (It could be more) with lid on.

  7. We will check sometimes to see if the stew needs more water.

  8. Once meat Is soft and tender, serve in a small tapas plate with some homemade fried potatoes.

Carne al Toro

Ingredients:

  • 1kg Diced Beef (for braising)
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper and 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 White Onion
  • 6 Garlic Cloves
  • 250 g Tinned Chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Fried Slice of white bread
  • 100 ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 200 ml Red Wine
  • 400 ml Water

Spices:

  • 1 teaspoon Hot Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Sweet Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 Whole Clove
  • 2 Bayleaf
  • 20 g of Salt
  • 6-8 whole black pepper
